Picturesque Italian Pasta in Port de Nice: Le Local

The Côte d’Azur, in the South of France, is well known for its sunny weather, its glamorous cities and its coastal line. I have the chance to go there regularly, and there is one place I never want to miss when I pass by Nice: Le Local. A well-known place by the niçois, this Italian restaurant serves delicious fresh pasta next to the beautiful Nice’s harbour.

Le Local

Located next to the historical city town, at 4 Rue Rusca, this restaurant is a must when doing tourism in Nice. Thanks to the region’s Mediterranean weather, you can usually enjoy its delicious specialties sitting at the restaurant’s terrace. The servers are friendly and the sourroundings are beautiful.

Now let’s move to the important part: what should we order when eating at Le Local? I like to start with an Aperol Spritz Cocktail, in order to get into the Italian mood, followed by a Focaccia di Recco à la truffe (truffle flavored Italian ham with stracciatella) when I am really hungry. I love truffles, I cannot avoid order anything with truffles when going to a restaurant if there is any in the menu. Nevertheless, be careful, because the main dishes are quite filling, so I recommend ordering starters only if you feel like eating a lot.

Speaking about truffles, here is one of the dishes I recommend if you pass by Le Local: Raviolis à la truffe & grana. Served with cream sauce with slices of truffles and Grana Padano cheese and topped with chopped fresh chives, this dish is just delicious.

Rigatoni all’amatriciana

This mouth-watering dish of Rigatonis is served with crunch pork cheeks (guanciale), tomate sauce, sheep milk cheese and pepper. I definetely recommend to try this one if you visit Le Local.

The unmissable Tiramisu

As fans of the Tiramisu as we are, we cannot avoid to order it at any Italian restaurant we go to, but it is not always a success. At Le Local we are never dissapointed: very creamy, not too sugary, with the good consistency and not soggy.

The final touch is that you can wander around the beautiful Old town of Nice after lunch with its narrow and colored streets. I strongly recommend having a drink or a coffee at the recently renovated Hôtel du Couvent (this would deserve a blog entry of its own), go take a look!

If we convinced you to try this incredible Italian restaurant, we leave you the adress here so you can look at the menu ;)
