Discovering a french local dessert: Lou Pastis

While hiking around Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, a beautiful city in the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park, we were craving a little dessert to complement the picnic we had so we requested advice in the tourist office. The lovely lady working there strongly recommended us a mouth-watering dessert: Lou Pastis in Le Saint Cirq Gourmand, a restaurant in a a warm and cozy old house in this charming village that, not for nothing, has been selected one of the most beautiful villages in France. Let yourself get charmed!

As we were craving some sweetness we ordered 2 hot chocolates which were delicious, a waffle with local honey and cream and the Queen of Desserts in the region: the Quercy’s Lou Pastis that conquered our hearts, and stomachs.

This local food is super tasty! With its generous butter taste, its crunchy puff pastry that tasted as caramel, its tender chunks of apple that melted in your mouth and a creamy caramel ice cream.

An ecstasy for your taste buds!

I must confess that I am not an incondicional fan of apple desserts as Marta, my cherry pickers half, but this dessert won me. Can’t wait for the moment she tries it!

Are you wondering how this delicious cake is made? Check out this video from their web site.

If you are planning a trip to Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park, a beautiful hike around Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and a sweet pause could make one of the best days of your trip. Let me give you a little taste of this charming area:
