Authentic local italian food between Milan and Parma

One of the positive sides of travelling by car is its flexibility. Are you hungry? Just take out your google maps and search for a restaurant that answers your cravings!

This is exactly what we did during our last road trip in Italy and we were not disappointed. We found Ristorante Barca, an authentic Italian restaurant that left us stunned.

As soon as you step into this classic family restaurant you feel warm and cozy. The menu is perfect for those of you that are a bit indecisive when it comes to food as it was short but perfect (yes, I´m as well in the “I want to try it all” side of the balance…).

To continue with the heartwarming experience, they offer you a tasting of a local delicatessen.

To be paired with a glass of local red wine? Sounds like a winning combination to me

Coming to the main courses, I can say that the mushroom gnocchi are the best ones I have eaten in my life. The creamy sauce made us finish the bread (and cry a bit).

Still dreaming about them some nights…

They also made us fall in love with a new type of pasta, anolini al ragù. Do not get mistaken by its simple appearance as the meat broth was rich and incredibly tasty and the ragú raviolis were filled with a well cooked stewed beef that melts in your mouth.

The combination of both? Fireworks.

Fun fact

Did you know that “anello” means ring in italian? This is why these delicious round raviolis are named “anolini”. This traditional dish from the Emilia-Romagna region takes a long time to prepare and it is typically reserved for special occasions… as your next trip?

For the sweet end, their tiramisú has its own character with strong notes of chocolate and controlled sweetness, a perfect end for this great discovery.

If one day you are in this area don't hesitate to come by. You will want to return.

Buon appetito!
